Renowned transfer reporter Dean Jones has emphasized that Victor Osimhen continues to be Chelsea’s primary target, dispelling recent speculation linking the club to Brighton striker Evan Ferguson.
Reports from Evening Standard suggested Chelsea’s interest in Ferguson, aligning with their strategy of signing promising young talents. The Republic of Ireland international, with six goals in 11 Premier League starts, is considered one of the brightest prospects in English football.
However, Dean Jones insists that Mauricio Pochettino’s side remains focused on securing Victor Osimhen for the central forward position. Jones stated, “Personally, if you’re going to spend that sort of money, I’d still go for Victor Osimhen.” According to him, all indications point to Osimhen being the prime target for Chelsea in their pursuit of an elite striker.
While Evan Ferguson’s contract with Brighton extends until 2029, requiring a substantial sum for his signature, Chelsea’s steadfast interest in Osimhen raises doubts about abandoning the pursuit of the experienced and proven Nigerian international in favor of the younger Brighton talent.
