German-born Ghanaian winger Ansgar Knauff has returned to Eintracht Frankfurt following the international break, but not without a slight setback. Although Knauff didn’t sustain any injuries during his time with the U21 national team, he has been dealing with a cold, which could affect his performance in the upcoming Bundesliga match against Bayer Leverkusen.
Head coach Dino Toppmöller addressed the situation during a press conference, explaining that Knauff was able to train despite his illness. “Ansgar came back with a slight cold, but he still trained with the team today. It shouldn’t be an issue for Saturday,” Toppmöller reassured fans.
It remains to be seen whether Knauff will start the match, especially with French winger Éric-Junior Dina Ebimbe providing strong competition for the position. Both players are eager to secure their place in the lineup, making it a crucial few days for Knauff as he races to regain full fitness before the weekend showdown.
