Gary Lineker Hails Fatawu Issahaku as a “Special Kid” Following Stunning Comeback Performance

Former England football legend Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, labeling him a “special kid” after his standout performance in Leicester City’s thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Southampton.

Coming off the bench with Leicester trailing 2-0, the Ghana international immediately made an impact by providing the assist that sparked the Foxes’ remarkable turnaround. Issahaku recorded seven touches in the opposition box, the most of any player on the pitch. He nearly scored with a powerful shot that hit the crossbar before his header led to a penalty, which Jamie Vardy converted to equalize at 2-2. Jordan Ayew then netted a dramatic winner in the 97th minute to seal the comeback.

As a Leicester fan, Lineker expressed his admiration for Issahaku, saying, “What a comeback. What a win. The game really changed when Abdul Fatawu came on. My kids follow Leicester as well, and every time we see the teamsheet and he’s not in it, we go, ‘Oh no, not again. Why is he not playing? This kid is special.'”

Issahaku’s influence in the match has raised questions about his limited appearances in the starting lineup, considering the spark he brings when he plays. His impressive performance further cements his growing reputation in English football, and he will look to maintain his form as Leicester City hosts Nottingham Forest at the King Power Stadium on Friday night.
