AmaZulu goalkeeper Richard Ofori is eager to reignite his career after joining the club as a free agent. The Ghanaian shot-stopper, who previously played for Maritzburg United in KwaZulu-Natal, is set to compete for the number one spot against Veli Mothwa, Olwethu Mzimela, and Kwanele Mbanjwa.
“I need to focus on how to improve myself and make things right here at AmaZulu,” Ofori stated. “The most important thing is to move as a team; we need to think about other players as well. We are here to improve each other and work as one family.”
After leaving Orlando Pirates at the end of last season, Ofori received multiple offers but held out for the right opportunity, which he found in AmaZulu. “When I got that call, I didn’t hesitate because it was the opportunity I was waiting for. It feels like home here,” he said.
Since arriving in Durban, Ofori has faced some challenges, including a coaching change, but he remains optimistic. He made his debut for AmaZulu in a 2-1 defeat against Stellenbosch in the Carling Knockout last 16 match at King Zwelithini Stadium on Friday.
