Marie Okoroh: Rising Defensive Star Eligible for Nigeria Could Solve Super Falcons’ Center-Back Shortage

At just 17 years old, Marie Okoroh, a dual-national defender playing for SpVg Aurich, may be the answer to Nigeria’s lack of center-backs. Born in 2007 and eligible to represent Nigeria through her father, Okoroh has yet to be capped by Germany, leaving the door open for the Super Falcons. A standout performer, she led Aurich’s U17 team to the German football championship semi-finals before they lost to Borussia Mönchengladbach. Her imposing physique and defensive prowess make her a potential future defensive partner for Galatasaray’s Tosin Demehin, under the mentorship of veteran Osinachi Ohale. Nigeria must act fast before Germany makes their move.
