CAF President Vows Action After Super Eagles’ Hostage Incident in Libya

CAF President Patrice Motsepe has assured that the Confederation of African Football will take appropriate action following the Super Eagles’ recent ordeal in Libya during the October international break. Nigeria’s national team was stranded for over sixteen hours at a small airport in Al Abraq, about 150 miles from Benghazi, where they were due to play a 2025 AFCON qualifier. The incident, which has drawn the attention of both Nigerian and Libyan authorities, is now under investigation. Motsepe emphasized that similar incidents involving African teams have been frequent, promising stricter enforcement of regulations to ensure fair treatment for visiting teams.
