Crouch Critiques Kudus’ Red Card Incident in Spurs Clash

Former England striker Peter Crouch condemned Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus for “completely losing his head” following his red card during the match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Kudus was sent off just four minutes before the final whistle after a confrontation with Spurs players following a foul on defender Micky Van de Ven.

After Kudus clashed with Van de Ven, who was on the ground, he then shoved Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr in a moment of madness. Initially shown a yellow card, a Video Assistant Referee review ultimately resulted in the ex-Ajax star receiving a red card.

Crouch, speaking for TNT Football, stated that Kudus deserved the red card for his actions. “I think Van de Ven did well not to react because he stamped on him a couple of times, tried to kick the ball at him, and stood on him a couple of times, and then he gets a slap in the face,” he explained. “Somehow, it’s all kicking off. He had to go. It was a complete loss of his head.”

Kudus will face a three-game ban, starting with the match against Manchester United at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
