Atalanta Co-Owner Holds Morale-Boosting Talks with African POTY Nominee Ademola Lookman Amid Contract Uncertainty

Atalanta co-owner Stephen Pagliuca paid a surprise visit to Ademola Lookman at the Zingonia training ground a day after the Nigerian forward’s nomination for African Player of the Year. Pagliuca’s visit on Friday, October 25, aimed to boost Lookman’s morale amid recent scrutiny following his Super Eagles international duty.

The meeting occurs as Lookman approaches the final two years of his contract with Atalanta amid past interest from PSG and remarks from manager Gian Piero Gasperini questioning Lookman’s defensive commitment. Pagliuca assured Lookman of the club’s support, urging him to maintain his top form for the team, particularly with the CAF Awards approaching.

Since joining Atalanta in 2022, Lookman has tallied 35 goals and 21 assists in 87 appearances, underscoring his value as the club anticipates crucial months ahead.
