Maribor Coach Boštjan Cesar Praises Benjamin Tetteh’s Debut Goal in Dramatic Draw Against Mura

Maribor head coach Boštjan Cesar applauded Ghanaian forward Benjamin Tetteh for his impactful injury-time goal that earned a 1-1 draw against Mura in the Slovenian PrvaLiga. Tetteh, who recently joined Maribor on loan from FC Metz, made an impressive debut at Mestni stadion Fazanerija by scoring in the final moments to secure a crucial point.

The forward, signed by Metz for €1.8 million from Hull City, struggled during his time in France, managing only 13 appearances without scoring last season. With Metz’s relegation to Ligue 2, Tetteh’s loan to Maribor offers him a fresh chance to rediscover his goal-scoring form.

“It’s great when a top player like Tetteh scores like that in his first match,” Cesar shared. “He’s shown quality and works hard in training, though he still has some physical issues. It’s encouraging for him to score; I believe he’ll only get better. He’s had his share of injury problems but has been training with full effort, and his fitness is improving. We’ll gradually give him more minutes.”

Cesar’s optimism underlines Maribor’s belief in Tetteh’s potential as the Ghanaian looks forward to a promising comeback season.
