Fulham manager Marco Silva has highlighted the impact of Nigerian international Alex Iwobi and others, explaining why Welsh winger Harry Wilson has been limited to substitute appearances this season. Following Fulham’s thrilling 2-1 comeback win over Brentford at Craven Cottage, Silva credited Iwobi, Emile Smith Rowe, and Adama Traore for keeping Wilson out of the starting lineup.

Wilson, who has yet to start a Premier League game this term, made his presence felt on Monday night. Coming off the bench in the 82nd minute, he scored twice in quick succession, rescuing the Cottagers from a potential loss. His first goal, a stunning back-heeled flick in stoppage time, equalized the score, while his clever header five minutes later sealed the victory.

Silva praised Wilson’s patience, acknowledging that it has been a challenging season for him regarding game time. “All the players want to play more, and Harry is a good example,” Silva said. “It’s been tough, but the form of Alex, Adama, and Emile has been exceptional.”

Iwobi, who has started all of Fulham’s 10 Premier League games this season, has adapted his game to accommodate Smith Rowe’s arrival. Though he prefers playing as an attacking midfielder, he has excelled in a wider role, scoring twice and providing one assist.

Silva commended Wilson’s perseverance, adding, “He has to be patient, and when his chance comes, he has to take it. Last night, he did just that and helped us secure an important win.”
