In a dramatic and fiery encounter on November 3, Ghanaian midfielder Baba Alhassan was shown a red card late in FCSB’s tense 1-1 draw with Universitatea Craiova in the Romanian Superliga at Stadionul Ion Oblemenco. The match saw both teams reduced to 10 men in a frenzied finish that added to the intense rivalry between the two sides.
FCSB took an early lead when David Miculescu found the back of the net in the 17th minute, benefiting from a precise assist by Florin Tănase. However, Universitatea Craiova responded with determination, and in the 62nd minute, Alexandru Cicaldău converted a penalty after Alhassan was adjudged to have fouled Ștefan Baiaram inside the box.
The final stages of the match became increasingly heated. Universitatea Craiova’s Ștefan Vlădoiu was sent off in the 41st minute for a second yellow card, leaving his side down to 10 men. FCSB’s Alhassan followed suit in stoppage time, receiving a red card after a VAR review highlighted a foul on Denil Maldonado. Shortly afterward, FCSB’s Joyskim Dawa also saw red for dissent, leaving FCSB with just nine players on the field.
With the draw, FCSB will now shift their focus to their upcoming Europa League clash against FC Midtjylland on November 7.
