CHAN Qualifiers: Ahmed Musa Ruled Out of Ghana Clash Due to Eligibility Rules

Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa will miss the upcoming Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Ghana due to eligibility restrictions. Musa recently joined Kano Pillars in the Nigerian Professional Football League on a short-term contract, but according to Article 38.2 of CAF’s CHAN regulations, only players with permanent contracts in local leagues are eligible to participate.

This rule rendered Musa ineligible for the team, as announced by interim coach Austin Eguaveon, who excluded the former Leicester City forward from his roster. Nigeria’s preparations are underway for the two-legged clash in December, with the Super Eagles looking to secure a spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament after Ghana denied them qualification in the previous edition.
