The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to conclude their AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign, with top stars returning to the squad as they prepare for crucial clashes against Benin Republic and Rwanda. Leading the roster is Nigeria’s standout forward and reigning Africa Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen. The Napoli striker, currently on loan at Galatasaray, rejoins the team after missing previous matches due to an injury sustained while playing for the Turkish champions.
Coach Augustine Eguavoen has announced a strong 23-man squad, which includes team captain William Troost-Ekong, the versatile Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, and Nantes winger Moses Simon. Their experience and skill will be pivotal as Nigeria seeks six points from the upcoming encounters.
Among the midfielders are returning talents like Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, and Wilfred Ndidi, while the attacking lineup is bolstered by Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Boniface, and Samuel Chukwueze, who will provide additional firepower. Making his debut is home-based defender Victor Collins from Nasarawa United, and Real Sociedad’s Sadiq Umar returns after a lengthy injury recovery.
Defensive reinforcements include Bruno Onyemaechi from Portugal’s Boavista and France-based Gabriel Osho, who hopes to make his competitive debut after missing a summer call-up due to injury.
The Super Eagles’ journey begins on November 11 as they travel to Abidjan to face the Cheetahs of Benin Republic at the Stade Felix-Houphouet-Boigny. They then head back to Uyo, where they will host Rwanda on November 18 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. Sitting at the top of Group D, Nigeria only needs a single point from these matches to confirm their qualification for the AFCON 2025 tournament.
