Angola’s head coach, Pedro Goncalves, has added a spark of excitement ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers by sharing his confidence in his team’s upcoming match against Ghana. Angola, already qualified for AFCON, is set to host the Black Stars at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Friday, November 15.
Goncalves, reflecting on the journey so far, didn’t hold back his criticism of the Baba Yara Stadium pitch, where Angola previously faced Ghana in a challenging environment. However, he promised a different experience in Luanda, hinting that the match would be played on an excellent surface, which he believes will allow for quality football.
“We will play good football, with wonderful players, a great atmosphere, a good stadium, and a great pitch,” Goncalves told Ghanasportspage. “We will do our best to beat one of the best teams in Africa.”
Meanwhile, the Black Stars have been training rigorously and wrapped up their last session on Tuesday evening before their departure to Luanda. Under the guidance of Otto Addo, Ghana will look to turn around their fortunes in the group, currently sitting third in Group F. To secure a spot in the AFCON, the Black Stars need back-to-back wins, hoping Sudan stumbles in their final games against Niger and Angola.
The stage is set for an intense clash as both teams aim to make a strong statement ahead of the continental showdown.
