In a thrilling Super Lig encounter at the iconic Ulker Stadium Sukru Saracoglu, Gaziantep striker David Okereke etched his name into history with a remarkable feat. Despite his team’s 3-1 loss to Fenerbahce, the Nigerian forward grabbed headlines and earned rare praise from legendary coach Jose Mourinho.
Fenerbahce, led by Mourinho, came into the game as overwhelming favourites and quickly justified their status with a third-minute opener from Oguz Aydin. However, Gaziantep showed resilience, and just before halftime, Okereke pounced on a rebound to score the equalizer, showcasing his predatory instincts.
The second half belonged to Mourinho’s tactical genius, as adjustments from the Portuguese manager paved the way for goals from Rodrigo Becao and Edin Dzeko, sealing victory for the home side. Yet, it was Okereke who stole the spotlight.
After the game, Mourinho acknowledged the 27-year-old’s unique achievement, revealing that Okereke had become the first player to score against three of his teams. “I congratulate David Okereke. He is the first player to score against all three teams that I managed. He scored against my teams while playing for Venezia, Cremonese, and now Gaziantep,” Mourinho remarked.
This goal marked Okereke’s third of the Super Lig season and reaffirmed his knack for shining on the biggest stages. The Nigerian forward will undoubtedly be looking to continue his impressive form as Gaziantep battles through the campaign.
