VfB Stuttgart has suffered a setback as promising German-Ghanaian winger Justin Diehl is set to miss several weeks after sustaining a muscle injury during training.
Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß confirmed the unfortunate news during a press conference ahead of Stuttgart’s Bundesliga clash with FC St. Pauli. “Justin will be out for a bit longer,” Hoeneß revealed. The 20-year-old picked up a back thigh injury during Wednesday’s session, and while the exact recovery timeline is unclear, the coach added, “He will definitely be out next year, we can already say that.”
Diehl, celebrated for his blistering pace and creativity, has been a rising star for Stuttgart this season. Although his absence presents a challenge, Hoeneß remains confident in the player’s resilience. “He will come back fine. The future belongs to him,” the coach said, signaling faith in the youngster’s ability to bounce back stronger.
As Stuttgart gears up to face FC St. Pauli, they will need to adapt quickly without Diehl’s dynamic presence, while fans look forward to his return in 2024.
