Bremen’s left-back dazzles with two assists in a dominant 4-1 performance at the Weserstadion.
In a thrilling Bundesliga clash at the Weserstadion, Werder Bremen outclassed Union Berlin with a commanding 4-1 victory in Round 15, driven by the outstanding performance of Derrick Köhn. The German-Ghanaian fullback showcased his attacking prowess, contributing two crucial assists that helped Bremen secure all three points.
The home side wasted no time asserting their dominance, opening the scoring in the 13th minute when Marco Grüll nodded in a perfect cross from Romano Schmid. Moments later, Köhn’s creative spark came alive as he delivered a pinpoint pass for Grüll to notch his second goal, giving Bremen a 2-0 lead within 17 minutes.
Union Berlin found a glimmer of hope in the 23rd minute when András Schäfer converted Tom Rothe’s cross, narrowing the deficit. But Bremen quickly regained control, thanks once again to Köhn. The left-back sent in a perfectly weighted cross before halftime, finding Mitchell Weiser, who calmly finished to restore Bremen’s two-goal cushion at 3-1.
The second half saw Bremen tighten their grip on the game, and Jens Stage sealed the emphatic victory in the 87th minute after Marvin Ducksch set him up for an easy finish.
This impressive win not only bolstered Bremen’s head-to-head record against Union Berlin but also showcased Köhn’s growing influence on the team. With two goals and two assists this season, the dynamic left-back will aim to maintain his stellar form as Bremen prepare for a tough test against RB Leipzig on January 12th.
