Ghanaian Stars Shine Bright in the 2024/25 Indian Women’s League

The Indian Women’s League (IWL) has officially kicked off its eighth edition, and Ghanaian players are set to leave their mark on the prestigious competition. Seven Ghanaian stars have been registered by different clubs, bringing excitement and quality to the league, which commenced on Friday, 10 January 2025.

Defending champions Odisha FC have bolstered their attack with the signing of prolific striker Jennifer Yeboah as they aim to retain their title.

HOPS FC, now in their third consecutive IWL season, have added depth to their squad by retaining Ghana international Gladys Amfobea and bringing in Constance Achiaa. Achiaa steps in to replace Fredrica Torkudzor, who departed at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Sribhumi FC has registered Regina Antwi and Queenable Akousa Amankrah, further strengthening their lineup.

New entrants Nita FC have also looked to Ghana for inspiration, signing Sussana Konadu and Gifty Acheampong as they embark on their debut IWL campaign.

This season continues with the home-and-away format introduced last year, ensuring fans across eight venues in the country can enjoy 56 thrilling matches. The stakes are high as the league champions will earn a coveted spot in the 2025/26 AFC Women’s Champions League.

Ghanaian players have consistently proven their quality in global competitions, and their presence in this year’s IWL promises an exciting season ahead.
