Nigerian teenager Ambrose Ochigbo joins Al Kholood on loan, mentored by Super Eagles captain Troost-Ekong.
In a move that highlights his rising potential, 19-year-old Nigerian midfielder Ambrose Ochigbo has officially signed for Saudi Pro League side Al Kholood on loan from Tunisian club ES Zarzis. The deal, worth €96,000, runs until the end of the season and includes an option to make the transfer permanent.
Ochigbo wasted no time settling into his new environment, training alongside Nigerian national team captain and Africa Cup of Nations 2023 MVP, William Troost-Ekong. The veteran defender, who has embraced a leadership role at Al Kholood, welcomed the young talent with a message on social media:
“Welcome Ambrose Ochigbo to @AlkholoodClub. Exciting young Nigerian talent, the hard work starts now my boy.”
Troost-Ekong is expected to play a key role in mentoring Ochigbo as the teenager navigates his first steps in Saudi football.
Ochigbo’s journey from the ES Zarzis academy to professional football has been nothing short of remarkable. Promoted to Zarzis’ senior team for the 2024/25 season, he quickly became a key player, featuring in 15 of their 16 league matches. The midfielder recorded one goal and one assist, contributing to Zarzis’ strong fourth-place standing in the Tunisian Ligue I Pro.
With Al Kholood set to face Al-Ittihad in an exciting Saudi Pro League clash this weekend, Ochigbo is eager to make his debut and showcase his skills on a bigger stage.
