Sevilla President Víctor Orta has dropped a major hint about Kelechi Iheanacho’s potential loan move, signaling a possible exit for the Nigerian forward in the final stretch of the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old Super Eagles star has struggled to meet expectations since arriving at Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City. Adding to the intrigue, Sevilla recently signed another Nigerian striker, Akor Adams, casting doubt over Iheanacho’s role in the squad.
Speaking to the media, Orta confirmed that discussions are ongoing, with Iheanacho evaluating three offers ahead of Monday’s deadline.
“There is one week left, and I think there are three offers. It’s a matter of the player choosing his best option for the next six months,” Orta revealed.
While acknowledging Iheanacho’s struggles, Orta was quick to affirm his belief in the forward’s quality. The president also hinted that Iheanacho’s desire for consistent playing time could drive his decision to leave temporarily.
“We all expected a higher performance from him. That has nothing to do with his quality, and there is interest from other teams. I believe he wants to play more, and we’ll see what happens until Monday,” he added.
The Nigerian forward has been linked with a range of clubs, including West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Las Palmas, and Getafe CF.
As the January window nears its close, all eyes will be on Iheanacho’s next move. With Sevilla reshaping their squad for the remainder of the season, the coming days could mark a pivotal moment in the striker’s career.
