Keita Balde Diao is making waves in Serie B with a blistering start at Como, netting five goals in his first eight appearances. The Senegalese forward’s remarkable form is turning heads, but behind the scenes, it was a crucial conversation with club legend Cesc Fabregas that shaped his decision to join the Italian side.
In an interview with Como’s official channel, Diao opened up about his impressive debut season.
“I didn’t expect to start this well,” Diao admitted. “Of course, it’s what I wanted and hoped for, but I knew Serie B would be a tough challenge. Thankfully, my teammates and the coaching staff helped me adapt quickly.”
The turning point in Diao’s move came through a direct discussion with Fabregas, Como’s assistant coach and football advisor.
“Speaking with Fabregas was key. He explained the project, the vision, and how I would fit into the team’s development. After that conversation, I had no doubts – I chose Como.”
Diao also praised the team’s playing style, which is attracting admiration across the league.
“Anyone who watches our games will be impressed by how we play. It’s a style that generates interest and makes people take notice.”
With Fabregas’ influence guiding Como’s project, Diao’s story is becoming one of the standout narratives in Serie B this season.
