After a stellar showing at the South American U20 Championship, where he found the net six times, Claudio Echeverri has officially arrived at Manchester City. The young Argentine midfielder, who signed with the club in January 2024, spent over a year on loan at River Plate before finally making his highly anticipated move to the Etihad.
Echeverri, known for his creativity and attacking mindset, is now surrounded by some of the world’s best players at City. But among his new teammates, one name stands out for him—Jérémy Doku.
“I’m a big fan of Doku,” Echeverri admitted, speaking with enthusiasm about the Belgian winger. “I see myself in players like him—very dynamic, ‘spicy’ on the ball, always taking on defenders. Their style of play is something to admire.”
Despite Argentina finishing as runners-up to Brazil in the U20 Championship, Echeverri remains proud of his individual performance and is now ready for the next chapter in his career. At City, he hopes to develop under Pep Guardiola and showcase the same flair that made him a rising star in South America.
