Promising Ghanaian striker Jerry Afriyie is eager to earn a call-up to the Black Stars ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
The CD Lugo forward made a strong impression during his debut for Ghana in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, scoring in a brief appearance against Niger despite the team’s 2-1 loss. His remarkable form continued as he played a crucial role in Ghana’s U-20 AFCON qualification, winning Player of the Tournament and finishing as the Top Scorer.
Afriyie, currently on loan from Al Qadisiyah, has netted twice for CD Lugo this season. Speaking to 3Sports, he expressed his desire to represent Ghana again:
“I will be very happy and glad if they called me because there is more [goals] on the way coming.”
With Ghana sitting second in Group I with nine points, a strong squad will be key as the Black Stars prepare for a crucial clash against Chad on March 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by an away game against Madagascar in Morocco on March 24.
