Antoine Semenyo’s Rise: Why Matthew Amoah Thinks He Should Stay at Bournemouth

Antoine Semenyo is having the best season of his career at Bournemouth, and former Ghana international Matthew Amoah believes the forward should remain at the club despite growing transfer speculation.

The 25-year-old attacker has been in sensational form, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. His impressive performances have drawn interest from top clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Napoli. Reports suggest Tottenham Hotspur is preparing a €40 million (£33.5 million) bid to lure him away.

However, Amoah believes Semenyo is thriving in an environment where he is valued and should not rush into a move.

“He’s doing his job very well at a club that also appreciates his work and efforts, with fans singing his name day in and day out,” Amoah told Africa Foot.

He went further to suggest that Bournemouth, under their current management, is more stable than Tottenham. “Bournemouth are currently a better team than Tottenham and seem more stable with a very good coach. So, joining a club that is far behind would be a demotion that makes no footballing sense.”

As Semenyo continues to shine, he is expected to be called up for Ghana’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar later this month. Whether he stays at Bournemouth or makes a high-profile move, one thing is certain—his star is on the rise.
