In a recent development within the Black Stars camp, Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has shown no signs of discontent after stepping away from any leadership role in the national team.
Despite previously serving as deputy captain to Andre Ayew, Partey has chosen to focus solely on his performances rather than wearing the armband. The Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, emphasized that the midfielder remains committed to the team’s objectives.
“It’s not a problem for Thomas Partey that he’s no longer the Black Stars captain. It’s not about individual aspirations,” Asante Twum stated in an interview with Sportsblog247.com.
With Andre Ayew omitted from the squad, Jordan Ayew is set to captain Ghana in their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Black Stars will first take on Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco for a clash against Madagascar on Monday.
Currently, Ghana sits second in Group I with nine points, level with leaders Comoros, as they push for a spot in the next World Cup.
