Desmond Ofei Vows Total Commitment as Black Satellites Target Quarterfinal Spot

Ghana U20 head coach Desmond Ofei has pledged that his team will give everything when they face the Central African Republic in their final Group C clash at the ongoing TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The Black Satellites are riding high after a crucial 1-0 victory over defending champions Senegal, a result that has boosted their chances of advancing in the competition. Ghana now sits second in the group with four points, following an earlier 1-1 draw with DR Congo.

Speaking after the Senegal win, Ofei underlined the team’s determination to stay on course for their ultimate target — a place at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, which requires reaching the semifinals of the continental tournament.

“Our main goal is to qualify for the World Cup. That’s the focus. Each match and every positive result take us a step closer,” said Ofei. “We will fight, prepare well, and give our best against Central African Republic.”

The decisive encounter is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, at 3 p.m. A win or even a draw could secure Ghana’s passage into the quarterfinals, keeping their World Cup dream alive.
