Emmanuel Mensah’s football journey has taken a major leap, as the 21-year-old Ghanaian forward reflects on a season to remember after helping Argeș Pitești seal a return to Romania’s top flight, the Superliga.
Arriving on loan from CFR Cluj in January, Mensah initially found it difficult to break into an already well-settled squad. But rather than backing down, the former Young Apostles FC attacker remained focused and determined to prove his worth. His perseverance paid off handsomely, as he delivered standout performances during the promotion play-offs — including a crucial brace across two legs against powerhouse Steaua București.
In the final tie against Csikszereda, Mensah and his teammates turned on the style, cruising to a 4-0 victory that confirmed their place in next season’s Superliga. Speaking after the game, Mensah described the achievement as a personal milestone.
“My first trophy in Europe feels really special,” he shared. “When I arrived, it was hard to break into the team, but I knew I had to keep pushing. I’m happy I scored when it mattered most.”
Mensah credited the team’s spirit and chemistry as a major factor behind their successful promotion campaign.
“This team has quality and great unity. I believe they can survive in the Superliga next season,” he said.
While his stock continues to rise, Mensah remains focused and humble. Still under contract with CFR Cluj, he’s yet to determine where he’ll play next season.
“I’m still a Cluj player. Right now, I just want to enjoy this moment and keep working hard wherever I play next season.”
From Ghana’s lower leagues to making a name for himself in Europe, Emmanuel Mensah’s story is just beginning — and all signs point to a bright future ahead.
