Nigeria is mourning the loss of one of its greatest football legends. Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai, affectionately known as Dodomayana, has sadly passed away.
The 60-year-old died on Thursday morning following a prolonged illness, bringing to an end the life of a man whose heroic saves once ignited stadiums and inspired a nation.
Rufai was a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s golden football era, notably helping the Super Eagles win the 1994 AFCON and participating in two FIFA World Cups. Beyond his incredible reflexes, he was a leader and a symbol of resilience.
His contribution to Nigerian football will never be forgotten.
Rest well, Legend.
