Ghanaian-born defender Samson Baidoo is on the verge of sealing a transfer to French Ligue 1 side RC Lens from Red Bull Salzburg in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old centre-back, who has enjoyed a steady rise over three seasons with the Austrian champions, arrived in northern France to finalize his switch ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. According to reports, Baidoo is set to sign a five-year contract with Lens, with the deal reportedly valued at €8 million including bonuses.
Despite interest from two unnamed Premier League clubs who tabled higher offers, Baidoo chose Lens after consulting Austrian-Ghanaian defender Kevin Danso, a former Lens star who spoke highly of the club and its project.
Baidoo, who made his senior debut for Austria in 2023, is expected to undergo medical examinations before putting pen to paper in the coming days.
The highly-rated defender becomes the latest Ghanaian talent to take his game to the competitive French top-flight.
