Nigeria international ready for UEFA Women’s Champions League debut with new club
Super Falcons defender Glory Ogbonna has officially signed a one-year deal with Israeli Women’s Premier League champions, FC Kiryat Gat, marking a new chapter in her flourishing career.
The 26-year-old joined the club on a free transfer after leaving Turkish giants Beşiktaş, and has already begun training with her new teammates. Ogbonna is set to make her competitive debut in the UEFA Women’s Champions League playoff this Saturday, as Kiryat Gat take on Forget in what promises to be a crucial early-season clash.
A seasoned campaigner, Ogbonna brings international experience and defensive versatility to the Israeli champions. Her impressive résumé includes stints with Umeå IK in Sweden, Santa Teresa in Spain, and ALG Spor in Turkey — where she won the league title before joining Beşiktaş.
She was also a key member of Nigeria’s squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, earning praise for her composure and adaptability at the back.
FC Kiryat Gat will be banking on Ogbonna’s European experience and winning mentality as they aim to leave their mark on the continental stage.
