⚽ FIFA Says No: Proposal to Expand 12-Member Council to 22 Rejected ❌

In a firm response to proposed structural changes, FIFA has rejected a move to expand the current 12-member Executive Council to 22, which would have allowed for the inclusion of Regional Football Association (RFA) Chairpersons.

The proposal, aimed at broadening regional representation and giving grassroots football a stronger voice at the top, was seen as a push for inclusivity. However, FIFA maintained that such an expansion could complicate governance and dilute strategic decision-making.

While the door may be closed for now, the conversation around regional influence in football’s leadership is far from over.
