2026 WCQ: Rwanda Announce 24-Man Squad Ahead of Super Eagles Clash

Rwanda head coach Adel Amrouche has finalized a 24-man squad for the Amavubi’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

The Belgian tactician had initially unveiled a 27-man provisional list last week, but Claude Smith Kayinbanda, Djabilu Ishimwe, and David Niyo failed to make the cut for the final roster.

Preparations began on Monday, with 20 players flying out of Kigali International Airport on Tuesday morning. The contingent will transit through Lagos before connecting to Uyo, where they will be joined by Phanuel Kavita, Bonheur Mugisha, Jojea Kwizera, and goalkeeper Clement Buhake.

Rwanda currently sit second in Group C with eight points from six matches and will be aiming to strengthen their qualification hopes when they face the Super Eagles in a matchday seven showdown at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.
