Ghana’s rising star Jennifer Awuku is set to shine on an even bigger stage after being selected as one of the ball kids for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The 15-year-old forward captured the spotlight earlier this year when she was named Best Player at the CAF African Schools Football Championship, held at the University of Ghana Stadium in April. Her standout performances powered Ghana’s U-15 Girls to their maiden title, with Awuku scoring the team’s opening goal of the tournament.
Now a member of Women’s Premier League giants Hasaacas Ladies, Jennifer’s journey represents the success of CAF’s youth development drive. She will be joined by Senegal’s Souleymane Faye, another standout from the schools’ competition, as the two serve at Africa’s biggest football spectacle.
The initiative, spearheaded by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, underscores a commitment to nurturing Africa’s young talents — not just through competition but also via opportunities for cultural exchange and leadership growth.
For Jennifer, the AFCON call-up is not only an honor but also a symbol of hope for young footballers across the continent dreaming of greatness.
