After weeks of uncertainty and transfer drama, Ademola Lookman has finally returned to full training with Atalanta, bringing a temporary end to speculation over his future in Serie A.
The Nigerian forward had been at the center of a tense standoff after pushing for a move to Inter Milan, even going as far as deleting Atalanta-related posts from his social media. Inter reportedly tabled a €45m (£38m/$53m) bid, but La Dea stood their ground, unwilling to part with one of their most influential stars.
With the move collapsing, Lookman—who netted 20 goals across all competitions last season—has now been reintegrated into Ivan Juric’s squad following his international duty with Nigeria. The scene feels like déjà vu, echoing 2024 when the winger was briefly sidelined during the transfer window before bouncing back to play a pivotal role in Atalanta’s campaign.
Lookman showed no signs of rust during the international break, featuring heavily for the Super Eagles—logging 75 minutes against Rwanda and a full 90 against South Africa in the World Cup qualifiers. His sharpness will be key as Atalanta look to manage his reintegration and aim for another competitive Serie A season.
But the saga may not be over. Reports suggest Juventus are lining up Lookman as their primary target to replace Dusan Vlahovic in 2026, meaning another transfer storm could be brewing on the horizon.
For now, though, Atalanta fans can breathe easy—their star attacker is back in blue and black, ready to fight for the badge once more.
