Watford Women delivered a statement performance in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division, dismantling Billericay Town in a one-sided encounter powered by a masterclass from Ghana international Freda Ayisi.
The Hornets set the tone early at Vicarage Road when Izzy Fisher broke the deadlock in the 6th minute. Barely nine minutes later, Ayisi announced herself with a precise low finish to double the lead. Just before the interval, the 30-year-old midfielder showcased her technique with a spectacular volley, giving the home side a commanding 3–0 cushion.
Ayisi’s relentless form continued after the break as she completed her hat-trick, effectively putting the contest beyond the visitors. Anna Filbey added a late strike to cap a dominant 5–0 victory.
“I feel good,” Ayisi said with a wide smile after the match. “I’m happy to get a hat-trick. We got the three points so it’s been a good day.”
The former Charlton Athletic star and ex-England youth international now looks set for a return to the Ghana Black Queens ahead of next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Ghana will face Egypt in a crucial two-legged tie as they aim for another strong continental run. Ayisi missed the 2024 tournament in Morocco, where Ghana secured a bronze medal, but her current form makes her a key inclusion for the squad.
