FIFA is set to shake up the Club World Cup with a major change that could redefine the competition. The governing body has now raised the limit of participating clubs from a single country from two to three.
This means that if, for example, a nation produces two CAF Champions League winners during the qualification cycle, there will still be room for another team from the same country via the ranking system.
But that’s not all—the tournament could now grow to a massive 48-club showdown, ensuring that no champion from the world’s biggest leagues is left behind. This adjustment comes in response to the first edition, where several deserving league champions missed out.
With these changes, the Club World Cup is gearing up to become an even bigger stage for global football glory. ⚽
