Chuba Akpom shared his thoughts on his future with Ajax following their 4-1 victory over FC Volendam in the Eredivisie. Despite recent links to Nottingham Forest and Fulham, the 28-year-old remains focused on playing football, whether it’s with Ajax or elsewhere.
Having struggled for regular game time since joining Ajax last summer, Akpom started just nine games across all competitions this season. However, he made a notable impact by scoring against Volendam, marking his first league start since March.
Regarding his future, Akpom expressed uncertainty about the club’s plans but emphasized his commitment to enjoying the game wherever he plays. “I don’t know yet what the club wants,” he stated. “I just want to have fun and play football, it doesn’t matter where.”
Despite the challenges, Akpom’s recent performances have been impressive, with five goals and two assists in his last six Eredivisie matches. In total, he has contributed 15 goals and two assists in 34 appearances across all competitions this season.
With two more games left in the season, Akpom remains focused on delivering his best on the pitch, whether starting or coming off the bench. As he aptly put it, “The most important thing is that I enjoy it. Whether I start or have to come from the bench, I do what I have to do.
