Leicester City is on the verge of securing the services of Ghanaian international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku on a permanent basis.
The English club has opted to activate Issahaku’s €17 million buy option following his successful loan spell from Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon during the 2023/24 season.
The 20-year-old forward played a pivotal role in Leicester’s triumphant return to the English Premier League, contributing significantly to their victory in the English Championship.
“We are set to generate significant revenue,” remarked Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim, as reported by Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano. “Our system allows talented players who may not adapt here to move to other clubs, enhancing their value.”
Issahaku has impressed with seven goals and 13 assists for Leicester, earning recognition as the club’s Best Young Player.
He is anticipated to join the Ghana squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic in June 2024.
