Ghana FA Leaders Attend 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok

Vice-President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mark Addo, and General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, are representing Ghana at the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok, Thailand. This marks their second consecutive year attending, following their participation in the 2023 FIFA Congress in Kigali, Rwanda.

Presided over by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the Congress features chiefs from all six continental governing bodies. The event, held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, sees 211 Member Associations (MAs) gathered with a full agenda, concluding on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Key issues to be discussed include the confirmation of the host nation(s) for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027. The highlight of the Congress will be the vote on Friday to decide whether Brazil or a joint bid from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany will host the 2027 Women’s World Cup. Mexico and the United States recently withdrew from the 2027 race to focus on hosting the 2031 tournament.

Thailand, the first ASEAN country and the fifth in the Asia-Pacific region to host this annual gathering, will hold a government-hosted dinner for delegates on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the Santi Matri Building, Government House, at 1900 GMT.

Over 3,000 participants are expected at this year’s FIFA Congress and its related activities.
