Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen missed Napoli’s dramatic 2-2 draw against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemi Franchi, Sportblog247.com reports.
Osimhen played all 90 minutes in Napoli’s previous 2-0 loss to Bologna. However, following that game, he developed a muscle problem, an issue that has plagued much of his time in Naples. Due to this injury, he was absent from Napoli’s Serie A clash against Fiorentina.
Napoli is closely monitoring Osimhen’s condition, aiming to have him fit for their final game of the season against Lecce, which could determine their qualification for a UEFA Conference League spot. However, if Osimhen does not fully recover, he will have to sit out.
More significantly, fans are eager to know if Osimhen will leave Napoli in the summer, with Chelsea and PSG showing interest. It’s common for players to walk around the pitch to show appreciation to the fans if they are playing their last game for a club. If Osimhen does this, it could signal his departure from Napoli.
According to Napoli Magazine, Osimhen has resumed light training on the pitch but is not yet at full fitness. While Napoli is cautious with his injury, the Nigerian striker is keen to return and possibly score against Lecce, as he did in their first encounter.
If Osimhen is unable to play, then the 2-0 loss to Bologna might have been his last game for Napoli.
