Al-Ettifaq Withdraws from Negotiations for Super Eagles Goalkeeper Nwabali

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Bobo Nwabali, who has been in stellar form for both club and country, might be ready for an international move. However, Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq has withdrawn from negotiations to sign the Chippa United goalkeeper, Sportblog247.com reports.

Nwabali, 27, showcased his talent with Nigeria at the AFCON 2023 tournament, keeping four clean sheets in seven games. His confidence has only grown since then, recording 10 clean sheets in 25 matches for Chippa United and impressing with penalty saves.

Interest in Nwabali’s services came from Union Saint-Gilloise, Queens Park Rangers, Al-Ettifaq, and Kaizer Chiefs, with Chippa United valuing him at £1.3 million (R30 million or ₦2.245 billion).

According to Sportblog247.com, Al-Ettifaq pulled out of the transfer discussions due to prolonged negotiations that tested the patience of the Saudi club, currently 6th in the Pro League. Despite the financial capability to meet the asking price, Al-Ettifaq was not confident that Nwabali would commit to signing.

While the move to Saudi Arabia is no longer an option, Nwabali is still expected to leave Chippa United this summer, with two firm offers on the table. The final decision will significantly impact his next career step.

In the meantime, Nwabali’s focus remains on Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
