Former Super Eagles and Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Sunday Oliseh, has lavished praise on Spain’s two wingers following their impressive performance in the EURO 2024 clash against Italy, reports Sportblog247.com.
Luis de la Fuente’s squad dominated much of the game at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, with an own goal from Riccardo Calafiori securing Spain’s victory. La Roja’s wingers, Nico Williams and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, delivered outstanding performances, consistently challenging the Italian defense with their technical prowess and footballing skills.
The 16-year-old Lamine Yamal was substituted with nineteen minutes remaining, while Nico Williams, who struck the woodwork, was taken off with almost ten minutes left to play. The 21-year-old Athletic Club winger was awarded man of the match honors for his efforts.
Oliseh, reacting to the quality of play, commended the Spanish youngsters on his X page, calling them exceptional talents.
With one group game remaining, Spain has secured their place in the EURO 2024 round of sixteen, joining host nation Germany in advancing to the next stage of the tournament.
Sunday Oliseh, who had a notable career in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, FC Köln, and VfL Bochum, played 63 international matches and scored three goals for Nigeria. He also represented the Super Eagles in two World Cups.
