Nigerian Midfielder Claims Ahmed Musa Was Faster Than Gareth Bale in His Prime

Gabriel Dada Adeboye, a Nigerian midfielder who faced Ahmed Musa during his time at Kano Pillars, asserts that the Super Eagles captain was faster than former Tottenham star Gareth Bale at the peak of his career.

Musa, renowned for his incredible speed, famously showcased his pace during the 2018 FIFA World Cup against Iceland, sprinting past defenders to score a memorable goal. In contrast, Bale was also known for his electrifying speed, notably seen in his dash past Marc Bartra during the 2014 Copa del Rey final for Real Madrid against Barcelona.

Reflecting on his encounter with Musa while playing for Shooting Stars against Kano Pillars, Adeboye recalled being impressed and having to resort to tactical fouling to halt Musa’s runs.

“I played against Musa when he was at Kano Pillars, and I was amazed by his pace. I had to bring him down when he sprinted past me,” Adeboye shared exclusively with allnigeriasoccer.com.

“In my opinion, he was faster than Gareth Bale, although I admit there’s a difference between playing against a player and watching him on TV. Musa, in his prime, was truly a speedster.”

Musa set a record for the most goals scored in a single championship season with 18 goals for Kano Pillars in 2009/2010, a mark later surpassed by Jude Aneke’s 20 goals for Kaduna United in the subsequent campaign.
