Ghana Wheelchair Tennis Team Prepares for Paris 2024 in Argenteuil, France

The Ghana Wheelchair Tennis team is undergoing crucial training in the French city of Argenteuil as they prepare for the Paralympic Games in Paris. The 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games are set to be the largest multi-sport events in the world, bringing high expectations and significant responsibilities for the host city. Paris will welcome thousands of participants, officials, media, and fans, making it a key event in the global sports calendar.

The Ghana Paralympic Committee is committed to winning a medal for the first time and has established a partnership with Argenteuil, which has agreed to host and support the Ghana Wheelchair Tennis team during their preparation for the Games. NPC President Samson Deen has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Georges Mothron, Mayor of Argenteuil, at a ceremony.

“We are excited to host the Ghana Wheelchair Tennis team,” said Georges Mothron, Mayor of Argenteuil. “This partnership will benefit the team before, during, and after the Paralympic Games, and it’s a great opportunity for both our countries.”

The Ghanaian team, consisting of women’s players Bridget Nartey and Stacy Konadu Mensah, along with men’s players Daniel Laryea and Bernard Yawson, has been training at the Argenteuil Henri Burg Tennis Centre. From July 15 to July 28, 2024, the team participated in an intense two-week training camp led by National Wheelchair Tennis Coach Yahya Macaulay, with support from Henry Larbi of the Ghana Tennis Federation Wheelchair Tennis. The athletes focused on fine-tuning their skills and strategies as they await confirmation of their qualification from the ITF and IPC by August 5, 2024.
