Samartex midfielder Lord Hilary Adabo has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness as they prepare for their CAF Champions League opener against Cameroonian side Victoria United. The first leg of the encounter is scheduled for August 18, 2024, in Douala, with the return match set for the Accra Sports Stadium.
Under the guidance of coach Nurudeen Amadu, Samartex has arrived in Cameroon and will begin their preparations with a stay at their hotel, followed by a light shake-up session and two days of intensive training.
In an interview with Kessben FM, Adabo assured fans of the team’s preparedness and composed approach to the fixture. “This is a significant opportunity for us to showcase our abilities on the African stage. It’s a major source of motivation for us. We’re not feeling any pressure; we understand the task at hand. We’ve had discussions among ourselves and are determined to perform well against Victoria United,” he stated.
As the reigning Ghana Premier League champions, Samartex is making its debut in the CAF Champions League after surpassing Medeama as the league’s top team last season. The winner of this tie will advance to the second preliminary round, with a potential matchup against Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a spot in the group stages.
