The Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation, under the dynamic leadership of President Ernest Danso, has successfully hosted the inaugural Koshien Baseball Championship at Labone Senior High School in Accra. The event, co-hosted by the Japan-Africa Baseball and Softball Foundation (J-ABS) and supported by Keio University and the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Africa President Albert K. Frimpong, marks a significant milestone in popularizing baseball in Ghana.

This tournament, which took place on August 31 and September 1, 2024, followed an intensive training program led by Keio University volunteers. Ghana now joins Tanzania and Kenya as the third African country to hold Koshien-style baseball tournaments, with other nations like Nigeria, South Sudan, Benin, Cameroon, and Zambia set to follow suit.

The Koshien Tournament in Ghana is part of the broader J-ABS Africa 55 Koshien Project, which aims to develop baseball across 54 African countries, instilling values of discipline, respect, and justice through the sport.
