Ghana coach Otto Addo is urging fans to come out in full force to support the Black Stars in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan. With the match being Ghana’s first in the capital in nearly a year, Addo hopes to see a packed Accra Sports Stadium to boost the team’s morale.
The Ghana Football Association recently secured approval from CAF to host the game at the Accra Sports Stadium after the Baba Yara Stadium’s license was revoked.
Addo emphasized the importance of fan support, recalling a previous match against the Central African Republic where Ghana, down 2-1 at halftime, staged a comeback largely thanks to the encouragement of fans in Kumasi. He expressed, “The other time against the Central African Republic, we were 2-1 down at halftime. Kumasi was still supporting us, and this is what I hope for. We need the full support of the whole of Ghana to win this match.”
Scheduled for a 4 pm local time kickoff, Addo is looking to inspire his team to deliver a strong performance after a difficult start to the qualifiers, which has left them third in their group after a defeat to Angola and a draw with Niger.
