Fenerbahce fullback Bright Osayi-Samuel has put to rest any concerns about his fitness by reporting for international duty in Uyo, just a day before the Super Eagles face Libya’s Mediterranean Knights in a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match. There were initial fears that Osayi-Samuel would be sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained during Fenerbahce’s Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise on September 26, which had led to his omission from the squad for the team’s last Super Lig game against Antalyaspor.
With Osayi-Samuel’s arrival, interim manager Augustine Eguavoen now has a full roster of 23 players for the upcoming double-header. Eguavoen will evaluate the defender closely during the final training session on Thursday evening before deciding on his inclusion in the squad for the match against Libya. The training is set to begin at 6 PM at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, with the first fifteen minutes open to the media. Eguavoen, along with a selected player, will hold a press conference prior to the training session. Osayi-Samuel rejoins the Super Eagles after having to withdraw from last month’s qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
