Asante Kotoko have officially withdrawn from the Capital City Africa Cup, which was set to take place in Washington, D.C. on October 12, 2024, due to visa complications. The club announced that their players and technical staff were unable to secure the required travel documents in time, despite ongoing efforts and discussions with the event organizers.
In a statement, Asante Kotoko expressed their disappointment, explaining that while they had hoped the visa issues would be resolved by October 10, the situation ultimately forced them to withdraw. The club emphasized their professionalism throughout the process and their commitment to maintaining their standards and values.
Asante Kotoko also clarified that they are no longer associated with the Capital City Africa Cup or any related activities. The first group of seven players and technical staff currently in the U.S. is expected to return to Ghana on October 13. The club will now focus on their strong start in the Ghana Premier League, where they remain unbeaten after five games.
“We appreciate the understanding and support of our fans during this time,” the club concluded.
