Bruno Onyemaechi and Raphael Onyedika have expressed their thoughts ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya. As Group D leaders, the Super Eagles are set to face bottom-placed Libya in a David vs. Goliath matchup. Under interim coach Augustine Eguavoen, Nigeria has been impressive, winning against Benin and drawing with Rwanda, maintaining a clean sheet in both games.
Onyedika, the Club Brugge midfielder, emphasized the team’s goal to secure back-to-back victories in the doubleheader against Libya. Meanwhile, Boavista left-back Onyemaechi stressed the importance of staying focused amid growing pressure from playing at home.
“The team is in good spirits. We know the task ahead and are ready to get the six points,” said Onyedika during a media session. Onyemaechi added, “No one is carried away. Our main focus is to win, secure the three points, and qualify.”
Onyedika last scored for Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier against Benin in June 2024, and the Super Eagles aim to continue their unbeaten run against Libya, which spans two decades.
